Our Mechanic Says...

..."Every major cruise has one event." Ours took place at 8:45 this AM as we were just 45 minutes out. An alarm sounded and the battery warning light to our port engine flashed. Dang! After a phone call to our mechanic it was decided  we'd head back to the marina.  Steve (our hero) was on the dock waiting to take our bow line.  He came on board and had the problem sourced and fixed in 30 minutes and we were underway again.  Whew.  The issue was a tiny wire that goes from the battery to the alternator that Steve replaced.

The rest of the day was perfect and we arrived in Poet's Cove at 4 PM having traveled 80 miles in 5 1/2 hours.  Using the pre-clearance by phone with our Nexus and Can-Passes, we cleared automatically when a customs agent didn 't appear on the clearance dock at the agreed time.  It's a beautiful early evening on South Pender Island BC.

Tomorrow, it's off to Nanaimo on Vancouver Islaand via Dodd Narrows where we need to be at 10:15 AM in order to pass through at slack water.

  1. Sorry to hear about your return but it is better early rather than later. Have a great cruise and we know you will have fun.
