Dent Island--northern Desolation Sound

We left our beautiful spot in Cortes Bay and are now in yet another beautiful spot--Dent Island in Northern Desolation Sound.  The island is so small it doesn't appear on most maps.  The marina and lodge are owned by the Nordstrom family who kindly open it to the public.  Being here is our "splurge" along the way.

Leaving Cortes Bay this morning, we went through more magnificent country and arrived at the Yaculta Rapids just before slack water--went through with a fair current. Nice and easy.   This afternoon, the rapids are impassable as the current is running over 10 knots.

Leaving Cortes Bay Thursday morning:

Approaching the Lewis Channel (still wondering why Vancouver thought the Sound to be so desolate and offering nothing pleasing to the eye)

The Skipper relaxing on the deck at Dent Island

When we arrived, there were 4 boats and a float plane tied up on the docks.  Since then, two more boats and two more planes came in.  (Main Attraction is the middle boat on the left side of the dock)
