Splash Sunday kicks off with a water taxi ballet performed to strains of the Blue Danube.
You really have to be there to understand how cool this is. It really does take great skill to maneuvre these boats like this. Often, it seems they will crash into each other. But they don't.
And after the ballet....Another tradition:
Wine and Oysters for lunch at Bard and Banker.
Above: Spencer, Roger, and Torben
enjoying the afternoon experience
And here we are with John, our fabulous waiter, who
agreed to a picture (between Laurie and Ginnie)
Roger and Torben--all smiles.
Meanwhile, back in the harbour....
tugs are positioning the symphony barge.
And, below, the barge/stage is in postion.
Boats, small and large, are getting in position for the evening concert.
Each year, we've noticed a beautiful black dog on the bow of a certain patrol boat. This year, we decided to hail the boat over and we learned that Maggie is a VIP.
She's the Victoria Harbour Mascot--AKA Chien du Port.
Maggie even has her own business cards--Chien du Port!
We're assembling for the concert on board Main Attraction.
Below, Denis, Roger and Torben are getting in the spirit on the aft deck.
And Ginnie poses in the galley with the food that's been prepared for the crowd.
Enjoying a meal on the bridge at sunset
as we wait for the concert to begin
The concert began at 7:30.
We've been listening for awhile and now it's dark.
The 1812 Overture concludes the concert as we
watch fron the bridge.
Looking at the stage and parliament from our bridge
And the fireworks begin in the outer harbour as the canons explode during the 1812 Overture.
VICTORIA SYMPHONY SPLASH....
PUT IT ON YOUR BUCKET LIST!
Looks Amazing! Thank you for sharing your experience in such detail. It's as if we are there. Bucket List addition most definitely. - Jen P
